March 31, 2009 Stimulus Winners

view the winning letters

I have been travelling around for just over a week having a break from Byron Bay and the factory but I’m still connected wherever there’s a Telstra signal. For the last couple of days I have been at Mt Barker in South Australia labouring over the Stimulus Packages submission finalists from my outdoor office.

Your emails were fun to read as they came in and the concept seemed like a good idea – until I had to seriously get down to picking winners. Selecting a mere 10 from the 146 submissions was more than difficult. Each submission is just as valid as the next when they all come from the esteemed ranks of WW customers and enthusiasts. But going through the process certainly confirmed the stupidity and indeed the unfairness of selective government handouts and other social meddling where a person or group of people make subjective win or lose decisions that affect other peoples lives. Fortunately a WW stimulus package or lack thereof is not a life threatening matter!

I wasn’t looking for anything in particular but the standout email was from Andrew who was able to clearly and succinctly articulate the dangerous entitlement attitude so prevalent today. Ideally Wicked Weasel doesn’t want to be political. We just want to barely cover girls in tiny pieces of preferrably see through fabric and some string. But we do have to speak up when it concerns our very existence. Internationally more debt and blame shifting regulation is now being proposed at the G20 by economically illiterate ‘leaders’ still unwilling to give up the printing presses that caused the problem in the first place.

And here in the down under ‘Land of Opportunity’ we can’t wait to see what our shiny new industrial relations act has in store for all us greeedy capitalist pigs who have the audacity to think that owning a business automatically confers any rights as to how it is run. Add some symbolic (but real) carbon taxes to the ever increasing taxes necessary to throw even a fig leaf of respectability over the gaping black hole that is the budget and voila, we will arrive at a point on the laffer curve where it is no longer worthwhile getting out of bed. Bravo socialist visonaries.

But enough seriousness for now. I’m on holidays for the next few weeks and will be driving around the bottom part of the country. Thinking about driving over to Perth as I haven’t been there for over twenty years but at around 2,500km it’s a long trek. I would have to do the next WW shoot over there so to help me decide whether to go, if you’re a model from over in Western Australia who would possibly like to feature on the WW site please send some pics and info to Mira. While travelling I can be contacted by email if you would like to comment.
