August 6, 2009 Heading North

No commentary for this month but here’s a few pics from Perth to Carnarvon.

Xanthorea are quite prolific around the south west of Western Australia. The popular common name was 'Black Boy' because of their bushfire blackened trunks. Nowadays that would probably translate to "Non reflective persons of indeterminate age' so they have become 'Grass Trees'.

Heading toward mining country. Michelin 59/80 R 63 tyres for the biggest Tonka Toys in the world. They weigh around 5 tons and cost over $200,000 each.
